Social Bike Rides

Through Newcomers and Neighbors I'll be leading some social (9-12 MPH) bike rides this spring. We'll start out with roughly 10-mile rides, around town, and progress to longer rides. Frequent stops to regroup. Kids in trailers are encouraged, any type of bike is fine.

Our first ride will be Saturday, March 24 at 10:00am (start time subject to change if anyone asks me to do so).

If you're interested, email me.

Happy riding!

Neale,

I've attached a link to an article in the latest USNews and World Report. As you do you social rides, I think we need to start the drum beat that bikes are for more than recreation. We're the only country in the world that treats bikes as something you load on your car to take some place for a ride.

All part of my subversive plan, Steely. On March 31 I plan to give the first of a three-part Road I class oriented toward parents, in an effort to show folks how to get from point A to point B quickly, easily, and safely. My goal is a fleet of vehicular cyclists on each social ride, showing the ropes to newbies. Eventually I'll start giving classes to kids, too. I just need more time...

With bike lanes going in all the way down Diamond, I think we can make Los Alamos the next Davis, CA.

I've heard that Mortindad Canyon has a pretty decent single track ride in it. Anybody know where to find the trail head? Any reviews on the trail?
